     PATHWAY - SOCIAL LIFE WELLNESS                       PROGRAMME 2022-23

The Department of Minority Welfare that works under the Kerala Government had organised a three day session with the title "Pathway - Social Life Wellness Programme" at Government College of Teacher Education, Thycaud, Trivandrum on January 17th , 18th and 19th, 2023. Our college was one among the selected institutions to host the programme. 
On the first day, after the morning prayer, Dr. Isaac Paul, Assistant Professor of GCTE, welcomed the gathering. The presidential address was delivered by the principal, Dr. V K Santhosh Kumar. The programme was officially inaugurated by Shri G Madhavadas, Ward Counciller of Thycaud. Dr. Abdul Ayoob, the principal of CCMY, was supposed to be the chief guest of the event. However, he could not make it to the college due to an emergency situation. Thus, Mr. Rafeeq accepted his role. Dr. Jayakrishna K, the Staff Secretary and Assistant Professor of GCTE, offered felicitation , followed by Ms. Asha Krishnan, Programme co-ordinator and Assistant Professor, rendering the vote of thanks.
The first session on Day 1 was on the topic 'Marriage for Social Wellness' by Dr. Joju John, faculty in Mar Theophilus B.Ed training college, life skill trainer and guide. He, in the course of his talk, stressed the need for right brain development and effective communication among partners.

The second session of the day was on 'Effective Communication skills for Couples and Healthy Online Communications'. He discussed various cases related to the dismantling of married relationships. The sessions of day 1 ended with reflection on the same by Vishnu, II M.Ed student.

The second day of the programme began with a session on 'Effective Management of In law relationships and conflict resolution techniques'. It was handled by Dr. Bindu Theresa Philip. She talked about Caring, Sharing and Bearing in relationships. The student teachers were given opportunity to voice their opinions. A Group discussion was organised by involving both teachers and student teachers. The fourth session on 'Infant and Adolescent Parenting skills, sex education and pregnancy' was handled by Dr. Deepa SR, Guest faculty in Minority Welfare Department and practising clinical psychologist. The third session was highly informative and relavant to practical life scenario. She gave new insights into Sex education. The way of presentation was impressive.

The third day of the programme started with a prayer song by Ms. Reshma Rajesh. The first session of the day was on 'Legal and Religious Aspects of Marriage'. Advocate Thomas, practising barrister in Vanchiyoor district court and school counselor, handled the topic. The major provisions in Hindu Marriage Act, Christian Marriage Act, Muslim Marriage Act and Special Marriage Act were discussed. The final session was on 'Family Budgeting', handled by Dr. Anwar. He talked about fixed expense, variable expense and savings. He also discussed different topics like reasons and consequences of dowry, child abuse and how to prevent these. The session ended with reflection from the part of Ms. Anju and Ms. Asha Krishnan.
