B.Ed Programme Orientation 2022 - 24


The B.Ed Course Inauguration and Orientation programme 2022 - 24 was held on 27 - 28 October, 2022 at the UGC Hall of Government College of Teacher Education, Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram. The inaugural session took place from 10.15 am to 11.15 am. Ms. Parvathy S of 1st year B.Ed marked the start of the day with a melodious prayer song. The welcome speech was delivered by Dr. Jayakrishna K, Academic Coordinator of B.Ed, followed by the Principal, Dr. V K Santhosh Kumar Sir's Presidential Address. The official inauguration of the two day programme was done by the Chief guest of the day, Dr. Jayaprakash R K, the Director of SCERT, Kerala. Dr. Jolly S, the Vice Principal of GCTE, and Shri. Rahul V R, IQAC Coordinator, delivered felicitations. The inaugural function came to an end with the vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Chinju S Nair.

 DAY 1 - 27 November, 2022

The Course Orientation started at 11.30 am. The first session started off with a welcome speech by Ms. Ancila Merlin. The resource person of the session was Shri. Rahul V R, Assistant professor of GCTE, on the topic "Teacher Preparedness in Psychological Perspective". This informative session ended with the reflection and vote of thanks rendered by Ms. Keerthana Anil.

The second session of the day began at 2.30 pm with the welcome address rendered by Ms. Mariya George. Smt. Sheena Elizabeth Varghese was the resource person of this session on "Pedagogy and Teacher". She systematically introduced this not so familiar topic to all the students, and the session came to an end with the reflection and vote of thanks by Ms. Bhagya Murali.

The third session of the day was headed by Dr. Anju I, Associate Professor of GCTE. The session, that began with the welcome speech rendered by Ms Jennifa, covered all the aspects of "Teacher and Commitment". The session ended by 3.45 pm with the reflection and vote of thanks by Ms. Sruthy G S.

The last and final session of the day on "Reflective practices in teacher education programme" was hosted by Smt Sheeba T C, Assistant Professor, GCTE. The welcome address by given by Ms. Gayatri Mahima C S and the reflection by Ms. Devika P S.

With these four sessions, the first day of the Orientation programme came to an end.

FILM FESTIVAL AND BEST FILM CRITIC                         COMPETITION   A film festival and a film critic competition were held by the Film Club of Government College of Teacher Education, Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram, on 23 November, 2022 at the UGC hall of the campus. By 3.30 pm, the student teachers and teachers of GCTE assembled at the UGC hall and the film screening began. Two short films were chosen for the screening - Aasai directed by Sam and Tippen Box directed by Karthik Gopal. Both were Tamil short films with English subtitles. The club had the plan to show the Disney animated movie Encanto as well; however the technical difficulties did not make this happen.      PATHWAY - SOCIAL LIFE WELLNESS                       PROGRAMME 2022-23 The Department of Minority Welfare that works under the Kerala Government had organised a three day session with the title "Pathway - Social Life Wellness Programme" at Government College of Teacher Education, Thycaud, Trivandrum on January 17th , 18th and 19th, 2023. Our college was one among the selected institutions to host the programme.  On the first day, after the morning prayer, Dr. Isaac Paul, Assistant Professor of GCTE, welcomed the gathering. The presidential address was delivered by the principal, Dr. V K Santhosh Kumar. The programme was officially inaugurated by Shri G Madhavadas, Ward Counciller of Thycaud. "THODAYAM" : ARTS DAY - 21, 22 February, 2023

                Thodayam : Arts Fest   Government College of Teacher Education, Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram, witnessed an amazing, colourful gala, THODAYAM 2023 , on 21 and 22 February, 2023 at the UGC hall of the campus.  The inaugural ceremony began with a prayer song by Mariya of I B.Ed. Mrs Asha Krishan, the Arts Convenor of GCTE, delivered the welcome speech. This was followed by Dr. V K Santhosh Kumar Sir, the Principal's presidential address. The chief guest of the day was Smt. Vinitha V, Lecturer in Dance, Sree Swathi Tirunal College of Music. She inaugurated the event and also performed for the audience. It was indeed a visual treat to witness the magic of her dance performance.
