HEARTFULNESS - RELAXATION AND MEDITATION THROUGH YOGA
Government College of Teacher Education, Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram, and IQAC, in association with Heartfulness conducted a session on Meditation and Relaxation through Yoga for the students and teachers on 9th and 10th November, 2022, at the General Hall of the campus. Yoga is over 5000 years old. Researches reveal that practicing yoga on a regular basis improves one's immune system. Heartfulness advocates finding happiness in nature and within ourselves, thereby putting forward the message of making yoga a daily habit for a healthy and peaceful life.
The session started off with a prayer song by Mariya George. Devika P S offered the welcome address, followed by the inauguration and presidential address by Dr. V K Santhosh Kumar Sir, Principal of GCTE. Sri Rahul, Assistant Professor of Psychology and IQAC Coordinator of GCTE delivered felicitation. The vote of thanks was presented by Sandhya A.
The session by Heartfulness began with an introductory speech by Mr. Shibhu Saifudeen, Yoga and Meditation trainer from Heartfulness and Assistant Process Engineer in KMML, Chavara. Vishnu B, Certified Yoga Instructor, Heartfulness practitioner and volunteer, provided demonstration and training on chair yoga and various breathing exercises. Stretching exercises for relaxation were also included in his session. Jayasree D K, Heartfulness Yoga Meditation trainer, gave instructions regarding meditation and the union with our energies. These exercises and meditational practices followed on the second day as well. Reflections on the sessions were offered by the students, and a written feedback of the whole programme was handed over to the members of Heartfulness.
