WORLD AIDS DAY PROGRAMME - December 1, 2022

       Spread Awareness, Not Rumours

HIV remains a major health issue that affects millions of people globally. According to WHO, Division, Disparity and Disregard for human rights are among the failures that allowed HIV to become and remain a global health crisis. On 1 December, WHO joins partners to commemorate World Aids Day 2022, under the theme "Equalize".

Government College of Teacher Education, Biostar Natural Science Association and IQAC organized World Aids Day Programme on December 1, 2022 at UGC Hall. The program began with the prayer by our dear classmate Gowri. The welcome speech was delivered by Dr. Rajashree K, and Dr. V K Santhosh Kumar Sir, the Principal of GCTE, offered the presidential address. Rakesh Mohan recited a pledge that affirms our solidarity with the victims of AIDS worldwide; everyone repeated the pledge in unison. Felicitations were later offered by Dr. Joly S, the Vice Principal of GCTE, and Shri. Roshkumar Sir, Assistant Professor of Physical Education Department. Ms. Subathira S, Skill Lab Trainer from Training Institute, Thycaud, was the resource person of the day. As a token of gratitude, the Principal of GCTE handed over a memento to Ms. Subathira.

Then began the expert talk on "LETS STOP HIV TOGETHER". Ms. Subathira, with the help of powerpoint slides and white board, gave a comprehensive presentation on HIV - the causative virus, its mutations, the available vaccines, etc. She tried as much as she can to wipe away all the misconceptions associated with this condition.

Red Ribbons, the symbol of optimism and solidarity, were distributed to all the participants. The session came to an end with the vote of thanks by Revathy, I B.Ed student. It was indeed an enlightening session for the students and teachers of GCTE.
