TWO DAY WORKSHOP ON LEARNING AID                             MAKING

A two-day workshop on learning aid making was organized for the student teachers of Government College of Teacher Education, Thycaud, Trivandrum.The first session was on February 1 and it started at 10 AM in the General Hall 2 of the campus. Ms.Keerthana hosted the event which began with the prayer song by Ms.Gowri Venu. Dr. Jayakrishna K , staff secretary and Assistant Professor in Hindi, welcomed the gathering. This was followed by the presidential address delivered by principal of GCTE , Dr. VK Santhosh Kumar Sir. Dr.Jolly, the Vice principal, offered the felicitation. Mr. Praveen Kumar, College Union Chairman, pronounced the vote of thanks.

The resource person of the day was Sri Raman P Sir. Prior. He has to his credit many awards and accolades at the national level in still model and working model making. Before the beginning of the workshop, he displayed some of his top models which undoubtedly inspired the student teachers. We were all excited to learn the art of making teaching aids from a person like him.

Chart preparation was taught to us on the first day. Detailed instruction regarding how to hold a chisel marker, how to write letters legibly, how to allocate space for the matters to be written, etc, were given to us. We were instructed to prepare charts on our own in the afternoon session. Everyone actively participated in it. Raman sir kept an eye on everyone and offered necessary corrections wherever and whenever needed.

On the second day, ie, February 2, the session began at 9:30 am. The preparation of models were taught to us this day. He showed us various models he prepared which is related to each subject. He gave us many ideas based on which we started to prepare our models. The various techniques to make our models outstanding were also shared with us. We were excited and surprised to see the variety of teaching aids that could be used to transact the subject matter in the best way possible.
The workshop provided hands on experience for the students. It was with utmost sincerity and excitement that every student teacher participated in the workshop. The workshop undoubtedly enhanced our creativity. Moreover the dedication of the resource person is worth mentioning. He constantly monitored our works and gave all the necessary corrections. Towards the end of the session, one student from each department shared their feedback and reflections.

FILM FESTIVAL AND BEST FILM CRITIC                         COMPETITION   A film festival and a film critic competition were held by the Film Club of Government College of Teacher Education, Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram, on 23 November, 2022 at the UGC hall of the campus. By 3.30 pm, the student teachers and teachers of GCTE assembled at the UGC hall and the film screening began. Two short films were chosen for the screening - Aasai directed by Sam and Tippen Box directed by Karthik Gopal. Both were Tamil short films with English subtitles. The club had the plan to show the Disney animated movie Encanto as well; however the technical difficulties did not make this happen.      PATHWAY - SOCIAL LIFE WELLNESS                       PROGRAMME 2022-23 The Department of Minority Welfare that works under the Kerala Government had organised a three day session with the title "Pathway - Social Life Wellness Programme" at Government College of Teacher Education, Thycaud, Trivandrum on January 17th , 18th and 19th, 2023. Our college was one among the selected institutions to host the programme.  On the first day, after the morning prayer, Dr. Isaac Paul, Assistant Professor of GCTE, welcomed the gathering. The presidential address was delivered by the principal, Dr. V K Santhosh Kumar. The programme was officially inaugurated by Shri G Madhavadas, Ward Counciller of Thycaud. "THODAYAM" : ARTS DAY - 21, 22 February, 2023

                Thodayam : Arts Fest   Government College of Teacher Education, Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram, witnessed an amazing, colourful gala, THODAYAM 2023 , on 21 and 22 February, 2023 at the UGC hall of the campus.  The inaugural ceremony began with a prayer song by Mariya of I B.Ed. Mrs Asha Krishan, the Arts Convenor of GCTE, delivered the welcome speech. This was followed by Dr. V K Santhosh Kumar Sir, the Principal's presidential address. The chief guest of the day was Smt. Vinitha V, Lecturer in Dance, Sree Swathi Tirunal College of Music. She inaugurated the event and also performed for the audience. It was indeed a visual treat to witness the magic of her dance performance.
