SCHOOL INTERNSHIP : Week 4 (13 November 2023 - 17 November 2023)

          DAY 15 : 13 November 2023

    More thoughts and a new bunch of                                     students 

It is our 15th day at G.G.H.S.S. Cotton Hill. The day started off with my period in 8H. The last two stanzas of poem "Song of the Rain" were discussed. Then, it was the time for answer sheet distribution. I had already corrected their answer sheets and it was clear that they have serious difficulty with language. 

I have got on an extra division of 9th since their English teacher is on medical leave. The students listened well and I was really comfortable with them. Even though it was my first class, I was able to adapt well to the new class environment. I was able to see a bunch of happy students. The last hour at 9K also went well. 

         DAY 16 : 14 November 2023

          Tensed, but not so tensed...

Today, I had my first teacher observation. It was during the second hour at 8H. I began a new chapter "Nightingale and the Rose" for them. I was tensed, but not so tensed. I had prepared pretty well, teaching aids were also ready. I messed up a few words here and there; also, I felt that my pace was a bit high. But I was able to control the class well. I was also able to do my model reading exactly how I wanted. 

After the class, I had a review session with my teacher. He pointed out both my positives and the areas that call for improvement. The suggestions given by my teacher were really helpful and I really believe that class atmosphere could me made better by implementing it the right way.

The second hour of the day was for 9K. Surprisingly, my teacher came for class observation. There were no teaching aids with me, but I was fully prepared to teach. She liked my class and the feedback was positive.

               DAY 16 ended thus.

        DAY 17 : 15 November 2023

 Kerala School Shastrolsavam 2023 Day 1

Government HSS Cotton Hill School hosted the district level Shasthrolsavam 2023. On behalf of this, all the teacher trainees were alloted duties in different venues. The first day of competitions took place on 15 November 2023. We assembled at the Conference Hall where all the judges were present. We served tea for them and then escorted them to the particular venues.
Myself and Ashley escorted three teachers who judged the High School section working models. It was such a visual treat to watch the amazing creations of young minds. From Chandrayan launch, tides, to disaster management technologies, there were a wide array of innovative models. After the duty, we accompanied the judges to the lunch hall. After the lunch , there were no duties for us. We left the school by 3.45pm. The experience was unique and informative.

          DAY 18 : 16 November 2023

 Kerala School Shastrolsavam 2023 Day 2

Today was the second day of the district level School Shastrolsavam 2023 hosted by GGHSS Cotton Hill. I had duty at a venue today. A teacher trainee from Christ Nagar college accompanied me. We had to distribute chest numbers and supervise the participants of Innovative Experiment Competition, HSS. Today too, we witnessed a lot of innovative works. The event ended by 2 pm. It was a good day today.

           DAY 19 : 17 November 2023

                  And its weekend !

There were no classes today, except for the higher secondary students. There were no duties too. A career seminar and Science exhibition happened today. Students from several other schools participated in it. Since there were no duties as such, we were allowed to go home by 12:30 pm. Looking forward to our first reflective session tomorrow at college.

FILM FESTIVAL AND BEST FILM CRITIC                         COMPETITION   A film festival and a film critic competition were held by the Film Club of Government College of Teacher Education, Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram, on 23 November, 2022 at the UGC hall of the campus. By 3.30 pm, the student teachers and teachers of GCTE assembled at the UGC hall and the film screening began. Two short films were chosen for the screening - Aasai directed by Sam and Tippen Box directed by Karthik Gopal. Both were Tamil short films with English subtitles. The club had the plan to show the Disney animated movie Encanto as well; however the technical difficulties did not make this happen. PATHWAY - SOCIAL LIFE WELLNESS PROGRAMME - 17, 18, 19 January, 2023.

     PATHWAY - SOCIAL LIFE WELLNESS                       PROGRAMME 2022-23 The Department of Minority Welfare that works under the Kerala Government had organised a three day session with the title "Pathway - Social Life Wellness Programme" at Government College of Teacher Education, Thycaud, Trivandrum on January 17th , 18th and 19th, 2023. Our college was one among the selected institutions to host the programme.  On the first day, after the morning prayer, Dr. Isaac Paul, Assistant Professor of GCTE, welcomed the gathering. The presidential address was delivered by the principal, Dr. V K Santhosh Kumar. The programme was officially inaugurated by Shri G Madhavadas, Ward Counciller of Thycaud. "THODAYAM" : ARTS DAY - 21, 22 February, 2023

                Thodayam : Arts Fest   Government College of Teacher Education, Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram, witnessed an amazing, colourful gala, THODAYAM 2023 , on 21 and 22 February, 2023 at the UGC hall of the campus.  The inaugural ceremony began with a prayer song by Mariya of I B.Ed. Mrs Asha Krishan, the Arts Convenor of GCTE, delivered the welcome speech. This was followed by Dr. V K Santhosh Kumar Sir, the Principal's presidential address. The chief guest of the day was Smt. Vinitha V, Lecturer in Dance, Sree Swathi Tirunal College of Music. She inaugurated the event and also performed for the audience. It was indeed a visual treat to witness the magic of her dance performance.
