SCHOOL INTERNSHIP: Week 8 (11 December 2023 - 14 December 2023)

         DAY 35 - 11 December 2023

Students, you are special to me...

It is the 35th day and there are just two more days for their exams to start. In 8H, the remaining portion of "A Day in the Country" was taught. The portions were officially completed here. The remaining text book activities were also discussed.

Today, I distributed sweets to all my students at 8H and 9K. They are really special because they are the first set of students whom I taught ever since I wore the robe of a student teacher. I had built a healthy and beautiful relation with them. I am happy that there is no grudge or animosity amoung us. Even the least responsive students of the class, especially those of 9K, now smile at me and come to me whenever they see me. I love the way my students call me "Bhagya teacher"🥰.

I had also asked them to write and give me a genuine feedback about my classes. It was a beautiful and slightly emotional day today. I also took a class photo with my 9K students.

           DAY 36 : 12 December 2023

The swansong at G.G.H.S.S Cotton Hill !

Today was officially my last class at Cotton Hill School. The Christmas exams begin tomorrow. Most of the students were absent today. At 8H, the students handed over their feedbacks to me. We took a class photo and I performed a small dance for them (They kept asking me to perform something for them ever since they knew that I am a classical dancer). What better day to perform for them than today! There were a few students in 9K. We discussed a lot of topics today.
         DAY 37 - 13 December 2023

The process of learning and unlearning

The Christmas exams started today. We weren't given exam duty, but were asked to go to the auditorium for discipline duty. Since there were two shifts everyday, we were supposed to maintain discipline among the students who were in the auditorium, studying for their afternoon exams. In the afternoon session, myself and Angitha went for discipline duty at the UP section.

I was really shocked to see the attitude of the UP teachers towards the students. They were harsh to them. When students raised their genuine concerns in class, the teachers were not even ready to listen to them fully. Moreover, the students were also scolded. I didn't expect them to handle the students in such a way. I expected an approachable attitude from the teachers there.

Teaching practice for me is a process of learning and unlearning. After acquainting with most of the teachers there, I now have a clear idea as to how and how not a teacher should be.

          DAY 38 - 14 December 2023

                    The Exam Day

Today was the English exam for the VIII and IX standard students. The VIII students had exam in the afternoon session; hence they had time to study and revise once again before the exam. I helped them to quickly recollect the important points in every lesson. They kept asking me doubts and many also shared their concerns regarding whether or not they will be able to write well. I tried to instill confidence in them. I also helped the students of other divisions who approached me with their doubts.

I had met the 9K students before and after the exam. We discussed the question paper too. It was a paper with medium level difficulty. Grammar was comparatively the problematic area to the students.

The exam was quite easy for the 8H students. It was quite surprising that the random questions that we discussed that day came for the exam. I was pretty content with the portions that I had covered for them. Majority were satisfied with how their English exam went.
