PONGAL CELEBRATION 🎉🎉 - 16 January, 2024

                        Happy Pongal

Pongal is a major harvest festival celebrated primarily in the southern state of Tamil Nadu, India. It usually occurs in mid-January and lasts for four days. Government College of Teacher Education, Thycaud, celebrated the festival of Pongal on 16 January 2024 with great joy and excitement. The Chief Guest of the day was Nainar Sir, a retired professor from University College. Kumar Sir offered felicitation for the event.

Throughout the festival, homes are decorated with kolam, intricate designs made from colored rice powder. Traditional music and dance performances are also common. Pongal signifies prosperity, gratitude, and community bonding. Keeping up with the traditions, several cultural programs and games were also organized. Pongal Celebration is always incomplete without a kolam. So, a kolam competition was also organized by the College Union. Intricate kolam designs were created by the different batches, in the classes alloted to them. We, the II B.Ed student team of GCTE, secured the first position in the competition. Prizes were distributed in the assembly later.

The Pongal celebration at college was a vibrant and enriching experience, fostering a sense of cultural pride and community among students. It was indeed a meaningful way to celebrate tradition, unity, and joy.
