SCHOOL INTERNSHIP PHASE II : Week 1 ( 12 June - 15 June )

               DAY 1 : 12 June 2024

                    The beginning 

Today was the first day of our second phase teaching practice. Coming back to the same school left me with many thoughts and mixed emotions. Will it be the same this time? The atmosphere, the teaching experience, and everything else...

We reached school by 9 am. After marking the attendance, we occupied the room allotted to us. Later, we had a meeting with the Headmistress, Usha Teacher, who assigned classes and teachers for all of us. After this, we went to meet the teachers and collect portions from them. 

I was given 8E and 9G. First I met Waheeda Mam who handled the 8E class. She was really sweet and gave me all the guidance. I then went to the teacher of 9G; however I had to opt another class due to some difficulties. 

There weren't any big duties as such. After meeting the concerned teachers, we came back to our class. We did our B.Ed works till 3.30 pm when the bell rang. We then went to office, marked our evening attendance, and left the school. The first day was nothing special; it went good.

              DAY 2 : 13 June 2024

            Second day at Cotton Hill 

I reached school by 9.05 am and marked my attendance. I had a substitution at 10K, my former class. The student teachers who did not have substitution went for assembly duty. The students welcomed me with so much warmth and affection. I was really happy to be in their class after a long time. We talked a lot; I then dictated English notes to them. 

After the substitution hour, we were given duty at the school office to verify and check the identity card details of students. All of us then engaged in the work which was promptly completed. 

Post lunch break, there were no duties as such. We remained in the same class and did our works. When the bell rang at 3.30 pm, we engaged in the discipline duty. After marking the evening attendance, we left the school. I then had to go to college to get my works signed by Omanasheelan Sir. Day 2, again, was just another normal day.

              DAY 3 : 14 June 2024

 

                      A free day

Today was a fully free day for me. Reached school by 9 am and marked the morning attendance. The whole day was spent in the classroom alloted to us. There were no duties as such. I utilised the time to update my blog and prepare lessons for the coming week. I had a substitution hour in the afternoon. However, a teacher was already there in the class by the time I reached there. So I came back and went for discipline duty, after which the evening attendance was marked. We left school by 3.30 pm.

              DAY 4 : 15 June 2024

              A half day at school 

Saturday being a working day as per the new academic calendar, we had to be in school today. However, it was a half day today since our school was a centre for the next day's UPSC examination. After marking the morning attendance, we came to our class. Substitution hours were then alloted and I was given 8B class. There were only few students there. I interacted with them and introduced myself. I then made them come forward and present a self introduction. Necessary improvements were also suggested. The bell rang at 12.20 pm and we left the school after the discipline duty.
